Melexis MLX90621 Low Noise High Speed 16x4 Far Infrared Array delivers a greatly expanded field of view at 30°x120° and a 4x faster measurement speed or a 2x lower noise level depending on the version used. The improved field-of-view allows a single MLX90621 sensor to measure temperature profiles of both passenger and driver from a single position on the center-stack of the dashboard. This eliminates the need for mechanical scanning and replaces it with a single fixed sensor that is able to image the necessary area directly. This results in a reduction of cost, measurement time and system complexity that provides new options and applications for cooling appliance engineers. Optional versions are available with fields of view matching previous generations of IR array sensors (60°x15° and 40°x10°).
